About Anne Byrd-Garofalo

Clinical Social Work and Therapy

I am warm, direct and non-pathologizing, helping clients seek practical solutions in the present to deal with challenging problems. My focus is to seek the deeper meaning inherent in problems using humor and honesty. I have strong belief in the strength of human beings and their ability to change and heal. The majority of my clients complete their work in ten sessions. For persons with more complex histories, e.g., trauma, we will work until we are done.

I draw from a multitude of therapeutic modalities including cognitive behavioral, Jungian, solution-focused, family systems, and work in a collaborative model. Clients are sometimes given practical homework assignments to experiment with trying new behaviors to get different results.

My clients have an unusually wide range of issues, from the very simple to the extremely complex. In addition to being a lifetime learner, a wife, mother, and community social worker, my clients have taught me to remain curious and open to new ways of working.
